Project Morimew: Introduction

Project Morimew: Introduction

As announced in the previous devlog posted in German Apartment Simulator, Kurostudios has been working on a different project called "Project Morimew". The name is not 100% settled just yet, it might stay as Project Morimew or will just be called Morimew in future releases.  Release dates as well as the future of this project are so far still unknown, but we strive to take this project as far as it can go and plan on releasing the game when it is in an early-access state, meaning most parts of the map and storyline will not be available.

About:

So, what is this game even about? We have worked to get a grasp on a basic concept, however many of these things may change as the project develops. Project Morimew follows the story of a young cat-like creature named Mori and the story takes place in a world named Morimew. The game mainly focuses around a contest hosted by the company "Dairypaw CO." It takes place inside the world of Morimew, a contest in which cats from all around the world collect all sorts of baking recipes from all around the different nations of Morimew to win the contest.

Our protagonist, Mori, is pressured into joining this contest by their mother and takes the chance in hopes of making their family proud while their sister is one of their main rivals. During the contest, the player may choose to take two different paths. Play fair and collect all recipes the hard way by fighting and doing quests or buying their way through the contest, dealing catnip on the streets, and bribing employees of Dairypaw CO. to sabotage their sister.

What path is chosen will affect almost every aspect of the game, but the path may change over time.

Gameplay:

Collecting:

Of course, one of the main aspects of Project Morimew will be collecting ingredients, tools and recipes. Some items/lack of can affect the ending and can result in hidden easter eggs, quests, and items.

RPG and Fighting:

The rpg and fighting aspect plays a huge role in Morimew. In order to cook recipes, the player has to enter and win a battle with the ingredients. Different tools, spices and flavors can be added to help in these fights. (Weapons, boosters and healing items).

Adventure:

The world of Morimew will be split into about 8 different nations, assigned with their own landscapes, biomes and cultures respectively. These nations will be based off of real-life regions, countries, and cultures to help and give representation for the beautiful cultures of some countries such as Germany, Egypt and more.

The world of Morimew itself will have a lot of lore which will slowly be revealed over time, giving the player the ability to puzzle together their own interpretation of the story of Morimew. Each nation however will come with its own pieces of lore each, some being connected to one another.

Misc.:

As Morimew is currently in really early development, many gameplay features will still be added or removed until its launch. We have thought of adding a dating and friendship element to the game, allowing the player to choose a spouse as well as unlock unique recipes from befriending NPCs.

Characters:

Project Morimew will have a wide range of characters, all being unique and having their own roles in the game. We will focus on making characters unique and adding representation into the game such as making LGBTQ+ or POC characters. As mentioned in the gameplay section, we will add different nations that will represent real-life cultures.

Every character is a mix between a human and a cat, the reason for this will be found out in the game. Each character will have an assigned cat breed and fur pattern as well as nation-unique cat breeds, for example: A desert nation will have sand cats, a jungle nation will have panthers.

More concepts will be posted soon, however we can give some

 information on our protagonist, Mori.

Style:

Project Morimew will have a mixed style, mixing between pixel, pencil and regular digital artwork.

Once we have further development, we will make more detailed posts about each aspect of the game! However, we do plan on giving smaller updates about our project as well.
